An Update

Friends,

I hope all of you living well and loving your lives. Some of you I have seen more recently than others and I can attest to the fact that the many I have seen recently are in fact living well.

As a lot of you know I have been living well for the past 2 years, but I have been doing that in a number of different places. I bounced from life on the road, to living in Charlotte, to Sam Mitchell’s apartment in Florence, to the gracious Sloans in Greenville and now finally at the Harvley manor. I regret/ am very excited to tell you that I will be moving once again. This time to a little place called Ruston, La. I know it well—this will be the third time in life that I have lived inside of zipcode 71270.

I have decided to take a position as the Communication and Media Director at Trinity Methodist Church in Ruston and I couldn’t be more excited/terrified of this opportunity. I feel it will be one I can grow and learn in and I am excited to see where this leads in the future. I’ve always felt a calling into ministry, but iv tried to run away from that specific call.

I’m going to be honest: it is going to really hurt to move away from everything I’ve been blessed with in South Carolina for the past 9 years, but I feel like I’ll be back at some point. I was telling someone the other day that I’ve found my homebase in Greenville and I wouldn’t have any hesitation moving back to the upstate when my work in Louisiana is done. But then again I’ve been trying to make my own plans for years and I haven’t got too far with them. I feel like the Lord is really guiding me to Louisiana and I can only trust him for the future.

I will be moving around the 15th of May, and I hope everyone that lives within a 100 mile radius of Greenville throws me an individual going away party. I like parties and I want to see all of your faces as much as I possibly can.

Finally, and maybe most importantly, I’ll be moving to the family lakehouse in Louisiana. Nothing would make me happier if all of you came and hung out and lived like a country song at the lakehouse for a few days. We’ll live life a little slower, drink some beer, catch some fish, fry some fish, and sit around in some rocking chairs while we talk about how good we actually have it. I hope this becomes an even bigger reality when I can afford the helicopter I’ve been looking at.

I really do love you guys, I’m really going to miss you, but I’m really excited about what’s next.

Blake Butler
